A pike is a very long thrusting spear formerly used in European warfare from the Late Middle Ages and most of the early modern period. They were wielded by foot soldiers deployed in pike square formation. 

This specific Pike Head was dug up in Virginia which is where a lot of the early settlers ended up. This one came from a museum in Pennsylvania.
