About Coins & Stuff

I'm Jim Greene, owner of Coins & Stuff. My story starts in Guilford County where I began working as a paperboy in the early 1950s. To say I was working for pennies is a literal phrase for me. It wasn’t long after I began working that I developed a fondness for precious metals and fine jewelry.

In my 20s, I married and began my family of six. Keeping my family fed and housed was difficult, so when an opportunity to work in Africa arose, I took it.

From the late 1960s to 1977, my family and I lived in Liberia, Nigeria, Haiti, and Jamaica. This adventure took me deep into the African bush where I learned many different types of trade. Although life took me in a different direction for some years, my true love and passion for coins was always in the back of my mind.

In 1979, I opened Coins & Stuff in High Point, NC. While the business was growing, my desire for adventure enticed me to explore treasure hunting.

Now 44 years later, I can honestly say my biggest blessing has been seeing the dream of becoming a successful business owner come to fruition.

I am still in business, continuing the serve the piedmont triad area in the same location as I was in 1979. I take pride in continuing my knowledge and staying current in the precious metals, fine jewelry, and coin trades of today. I have achieved an A+ with the Better Business Bureau and work hard to retain that credibility.

I have a saying I believe speaks to my character, “Nothing is more important than how you treat other people”, and as the Bible says, "You will reap what you sow".
